Greetings from Georgia, I pray you are healthy and happy as we enter a New Year.
Philippians 1:3-5 I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, The Rehoboth Baptist Association of Georgia will be sending a team of individuals to Moldova June 1 through 13. This will be the Associations 16th year to minister to this people group. I have answered the call to go to Moldova again this year. My church, Houston Lake Baptist, will be sending five people. This will be my second year going to the central part of that country. Last year, our team was able to help in so many ways. We assisted a medical team as they gave basic health exams and medicines to people in various villages in the area. We gave out hundreds of reading glasses to Moldovans who have “never” had a pair of glasses! Many of them cried with joy because of their gift of sight! It truly is very humbling to witness such thankfulness for what we consider so little. The teams also delivered groceries, baby clothes and conducted vacation bible school activities for the children in the villages. As I reflect back to this life changing opportunity, the biggest joy and blessing to me was seeing the Holy Spirit at work in these people’s lives. Before any glasses were given out, groceries delivered or VBS activities executed, the Good News of Jesus was proclaimed. Through an interpreter and using the Wordless Book method of witnessing I was amazed and overjoyed to watch the young, old and in-between Moldovans hear and receive the Gospel! As the Holy Spirit entered in, I witnessed peace, hope and security replace hopelessness, despair and insecurity. Another incredible work of the Holy Spirit in this place was the desire for new church plants! I know by Romans 10:17 so then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. There is such hunger for God’s Word and assembling of His new believers together in their newfound faith. We were able to go to one of these new churches and meet a young man who was training to pastor another church in the near future. I hope and pray we will return this year to worship with him in his village and church. There is still so much for the church to do in this country. Please pray for the children. Three orphanages are closing this year in spite of much effort from Rehoboth’s team to prevent this from happening. There is still much persecution from the Moldavian government and wrong hurtful motives directed at their own people. This is a country that was fully communist only a few years back. I close this greeting with a request, making it in the spirit of Paul on his missionary journey. Philippians 4:17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account It will cost each of us 2,450.00 to make this journey. If you are able to help fund my mission trip I would be greatly humbled and thankful. Thank you in advance for your investment of furthering the Gospel and helping the people of Moldova. May God richly bless you. You may mail your mission donation to: Houston Lake Baptist Church, 2300 Hwy.127 East, Perry Ga. 31069.
