The 2019 Moldova Mission Trip was a great success! The team after a record traveling time of 20 hours Whew! We all got through the security checks with no incident. No shake downs, luggage checks, and no questions!! Praise the Lord! He certainly smoothed our paths. Below are some pictures which the story of the main focus of the mission trip for 2019. We went via Frankfurt and arrived in Chisinau airport. A 45 minute van ride followed to get us to Anenni Noi. Brother Tim Millwood preached through Pastor Igor Seremet translating. The worship team praising God in Romanian. there was also a translation going out in Russian through headphones. VBS was held Monday through Wednesday in the morning in Anenii Noi. Tom Red shared the Gospel. All the children were given a Wordless Book bracelet and book. Many accepted Christ. Had a slow start, but by Wednesday, we had standing room only kids and teens in the small sanctuary. On Monday through Wednesday, we also did an afternoon VBS at the village of Hirbovat. we found out that the Shoebox Ministry came to that village in 2018. It was thrilling to know the packages got in kids' hands. One of them could have been yours!! Mary Frances Thompson did an amazing Bible lesson each day on creation. The children often drew about the lesson during craft time. Here is a VBS opening ceremony and a picture of snack time. Bread and water! The kids loved it! How different from our VBSs here right? Three of our amazing cooks. Clinic was held Thursday and Friday. A group of doctors was set up to provide free medical attention for the villagers. They volunteered their time and the Rehoboth Association bought the supplies. Our team rotated watching the children while their parents saw the doctors. We used left over crafts and our imaginations to entertain them. 249 people were seen at the clinic. We also shared the Gospel through a translator. We had open Bibles in each of the languages used there. Here are some pictures of the orphanage. It was just barren ground two years ago and now is home to orphans. Please pray for George and Sasha, the orphanage house parents, as they serve these precious children. They have three children of their own in addition to the orphans housed there. It was an amazing experience. Thank you for your support. I even got to witness to a young man named Tobi on the plane ride home. I left him my much worn and well marked Gideons Bible and pray that he reads it and comes to know Christ.
The Moldova Mission team left on June 20th and hit the ground running (though a bit jet lagged). They have been busy with clinics, home visits, VBS, and many other duties. Pictures below are of the team getting ready to depart. Getting to know and interact with the Moldovan people is a blessing. Each of the team members enjoy being able to tell them about Christ. Many are thirsting to hear the Word. However, people are the same all over. Below is a picture of a child at VBS, ready and eager to accept Christ. Also pictured is an woman who refused God's gift. Amazing how the simple Gospel message has so much appeal and acceptance with a child and not so much as we grow up and get "wiser." Shouldn't we all be so humble as a child (Matt 18:4). The facial expressions say it all. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will convict her and she will accept Christ. Lastly, a peek at the everyday dramas missionaries encounter when the go beyond the good old USA. Pictured below is a public restroom facility in one of the villages. Pretty typical though in this and other poorer countries. Hardly persecution (though that happens all too much to foreign Christians and missionaries), but it reminds us of the hardships they have to endure in their work for the Lord. Please pray for your missionaries.
Tomorrow the Fair Lady will be on her way to Moldova for a mission trip with the Rehoboth Baptist Association. She and four others will be leaving for a nine day trip. While there, they will be conducting VBSs in villages (sometimes two per day!), helping in medical clinics, witnessing in homes, helping provide food and clothes, and a host of of other activities. Please pray for the team's health and strength as they do the work of spreading the Gospel and showing God's love for the Moldovan people. Shown below is a whole suitcase of VBS supplies and tracts we will use.
Praise God! The first half of the rent for the Fairground space has been paid. Thank you Lamar! The second and final payment of $892 is due August 2nd. Please pray it will be provided. Fair preparations have been underway all year, but will really get going in late July. Tracts and other materials have been secured, but a few other items remain to be obtained. Trainings will begin in late summer and continue right up until Fair week to prepare newcomers to present the Wordless Book at the tent. Pray that there will be workers for the harvest.
We recently lost a magnificent soul winner, Bud Snow, on May 29th. He was 91. He and his wife Jean traveled all across the country telling the Gospel story in tent ministries at all kinds of fairs. There is no counting of the souls they have reached for Christ. The tent we use now at the Georgia National Fair is the very same one they used for so many years. He and his wife Jean were even married in the tent! He has obtained his rest and is now in Heaven with the Lord having been a good and faithful servant. We miss you Bud, but rejoice in your homecoming! 2019 Mission Support Request My Fair Lady, Mattie Lynn Coonce, has the opportunity to go on a mission trip June 20th through June 29th. Our team will be using the Wordless Book Method of evangelizing along with other effective outreach. All our communications are done through an interpreter. We will be in the village of Anenii Noi located in Central Moldova. An old Soviet sewing factory was purchased by funds provided by the Georgia Baptist Convention and Rehoboth Baptist Association. It has been totally renovated and is now a church and training rooms for new pastors and also housing for missionaries. The church, Filadelphia Baptist Church, pastored by Igor Seremet, is a wonderful blessing in the village. Our team will have the opportunity to help in this village and other surrounding villages. We will conduct VBS, share the Gospel during home visits (and distribute groceries), assist with fitting reading glasses during the 3-day free clinic and help in the recently built NEW orphanage! We always share the Gospel message and train others to share the Good News too. First, we all need your prayers as we GO! There are many that oppose us and God’s message of salvation through Jesus Christ.
The trip will cost me 2,000 dollars. My church will provide a small part of the funds from the mission budget, but it will be far short of the total need. I am asking for your financial help as the Lords leads you in this matter. Any amount will help me. It will be a blessing so very much appreciated. Please make your donation to Rehoboth Association, 744 Lake Joy Road, Warner Robins, Ga. 31088 PLEASE REMEMBER to note on the payment that it is for Mattie Lynn Coonce Moldova mission trip. Our hope is that it will mirror the Wordless Book training guide to in order to simplify and provide clarity for those being trained to use the Wordless Book. Additionally, please pray for the upcoming Florida State Fair ministry workers. It will be held 7-18 February in Tampa, FL. Pray that the workers will be plentiful for the harvest there. We expect over 5000 people will hear the Gospel at the ministry tent there. If you would like to serve as a storyteller, please contact Mattie Lynn Coonce for more information.
My husband and I had the privilege of helping at the Perry First Baptist Church Fall Fest last night. We worked in a booth with some of our Spanish speaking brothers and sisters in Christ. It was a great opportunity to minister to the local populace with over 1000 registered attendees for a three hour event! We witnessed, handed out tracts and Wordless Book bracelets, and enjoyed great food and entertainment. The kids were also welcome to get a few pieces of candy. No tricks here, only treats. One of which was each child visiting our booth got a signup card to join the Mailbox Club. Hopefully, many children (and adults) will sign up to receive free and fun educational materials to learn how to have a more abundent Christian life. Great fellowship and fun! Most importantly, many heard the Gospel of Christ! Total that heard : 3429 As recorded, total first time professions of faith: 895 Including: Children 216 Teens 477 Adults 202 In spite of almost two days closed because of the Hurricane we had many people come through the tent to hear and receive the Good News. Please pray for the new babes in Christ, that the local churches would receive them into the fold, minister and disciple them to grow in the Lord. |
